It's a lot of time i did not update this blog; AVBlog is now working for my blogs and i've decided to take alle the time i need in order to build the 2.0 version.

There not many working installations out there and so i think that really does not make sense to build and develop solutions that i really do not need for my personal needs; said that AVBlog 2.0 will be out after the summer and it will be really something different from now.

In these months i've developed a whole new CMS / Blog platform for my internal needs and this will be the basic of the AVBlog 2.0 release; so good bye to xml storage (it works nice, all of my blogs actually use them, but as the new application use DB it's a waste of time to try to make it using xml too) but welcome some nice features like the new skinning feature.

So when AVBlog 2.0 will be realesed it will be a CF8 only application (i really love the new version and i'm using Ajax, Imaging and PDF features a lot); there will be obviously an upgrade function (hey, i've many blogs on AVBlog 1.5) and there will be new architecture and new features; the first site to use the new system will be www.cfmentor.com that will be reloaded using AVBlog 2.0 by september. After that (october) i'll finally release AVBlog 2.0.

If you need to go further keep in mind that my custom tags are only a wrapper of Dojo, so when you use them you'll also have the power and the flexibility of the Dojo toolkit and you can use it directly for things that the custom tags can not still allows.

I've just uploaded a first fully functionally demo of CFWidgets; you can see it at this url:

http://www.veggiani.it/projects/cfwidgets/demo/index.cfm

I developed some custom tags that's wrap some of the Dojo widgets and functionality and allow the CF developer to build rich Ajax interfaces without writing Javascript code. These CT are still in development but in the demo you can get an idea of what's possible to build with them.

I've created CT for these Dojo widgets:

Accordion

ContentPane

FloatingPane

Menu

Dialog

SplitContainer

TitlePane

Wizard

Effects

and some other tags like <cf_wa> wich emulate the HTML <a> tag but that allow to load the result of the target attributes inside a ContentPane using XHR or <cf_wform> and <cf_wsubmit> that allow form submission using XHR calls.

I hope to release a firsrt downloadable version of the project soond, i miss still some documentation, meanwhile let me know what do you think about this stuff.

I just released the 1.5.1 version of AVBlog.

AVBlog now comes in three versions:

AVBlog: The full featured version, it has all plugins and external software (located in the /external and /plugins folder) with a size of 5.290 KBytes.

AVBlog Lite: It has no plugins and only Dojo in the /external folder (so you can use Ajax features) with a size of 2.215 KBytes

AVBlog Basic: It has no plugins and no external software (so no Ajax too) with a size of 1.245 KBytes

Upgrading or downgrading from one version to another is simple as the only thing to do is to delete or to add some folders.

This version fix many bugs you pointed out, i tested it on Railo and Blue Dragon too and it works just fine, a part from a search engine problem that still exists if you use XML as storage with Railo.

Please let me know for any other problem you can find, remember that the SVN is the right place to find the latest versions and to use the Google Code facilities for Issue tracking and submission.

Really nothing to worry about :)

Only that today i've find some problems using Railo and i decided to delay the release of two days in order to get the time to have the 1.5.1 version to work well with Railo.

Sorry Perry for the delay, if you just can't wait and want the software write to me; unless you do not use Railo i can send you the new version.

The AVBlog Lite version will be out on the 01/18 too, it will not include any plugin or external software (like FCKeditor and so on) apart from Dojo as it's used for the Ajax stuff in this blog.

I'm considering the idea of releasing a further version without dojo and to call it AVBlog basic; it seems complex to have three releases but in AVBlog it simply mean to leave out some folders.

AVBlog 1.5 will be release on 19 November.

During this month i fixed many bugs thanks to some testers and i've also introduced some new things:

image rotation on the Photoblog Plugin.

code syntax highlighter thanks to dp.SyntaxHighlighter (if you use FCKeditor it will be a select with the highlighter to use).

microsummary support

performance enhancements on CF7 using XML

as regard Dojo the new o.4 version will not be used by AVBlog, there are some important differences in the two versions so i decide to not include it unless i've published my CFWIDGET project (wich AVBlog use in it's alpha form).
